Welcome to Risk Community (the “Site”), a platform owned and operated by Risk Sciences International (“RSI”), located at Suite 343, 1505 Laperriere Avenue, Ottawa, ON K1Z 7T1, Canada. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the Site.
1. Purpose
Risk Community provides a space for risk professionals to exchange knowledge and best practices. RSI operates the Site but does not influence or curate the content posted by members, except for content intended for external publication (see Section 4).
2. Account Creation and Responsibilities
• Account Creation: Users must create an account to participate.
• Responsibilities: Users are responsible for the accuracy of the information they provide and must not share login credentials.
3. Community Standards
• Prohibited Activities: Users must not engage in self-promotion, advertising, or any form of harmful, offensive, or disruptive behavior.
• Classified Content: The posting of content or information that is federally classified by any country is strictly prohibited.
• Zero Tolerance Policy: Violations of community standards result in the following:
1. A single warning.
2. Temporary suspension.
3. Permanent expulsion for repeat violations.
4. Content Ownership, Licensing, and Visibility
• User Ownership: Users retain full ownership of the content they post.
• Content Privacy: Most content is visible only to registered members. Certain content may be restricted to specific groups.
• Public News Posts: News posts of general interest, deemed appropriate for external publication, will be made publicly available. These may include:
• Original RSI content.
• Member-produced content explicitly marked for external publication by the member.
5. External Links
External links are allowed when shared by members or deemed relevant to the community. Risk Community is not responsible for the accuracy, security, or reliability of external content.
6. Liability Disclaimer
The content shared on the Site is for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional or legal advice. RSI is not liable for any actions or decisions taken based on this content.
7. Termination of Service
RSI reserves the right to terminate accounts or remove content at its discretion, without prior notice.

• Login cookies are stored for two days (or two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected) and are removed upon logout.

• Editing or publishing an article sets a one-day cookie containing the post ID of the edited article.

• Retention: Data is retained indefinitely unless you request its deletion. Comments and their metadata are stored indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
• Deletion Requests: Members may request a permanent removal of their account, associated data, and posted content.
6. Your Rights
• Access and Correction: Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Usernames cannot be changed.
• Data Export: Users may request an exported file of all personal data we hold.
• Data Deletion: Users may request the erasure of personal data. This excludes data retained for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
7. Where Your Data Is Sent
• Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
• Password reset requests include the requestor’s IP address.
